Rappahannock County

6 wineries · 101 Governor's Cup awards · 2018–2026
Rappahannock County is a rural pocket of the Blue Ridge foothills northwest of Charlottesville, sandwiched between the Shenandoah National Park to the west and the Fauquier County line to the east. No federal AVA covers this county — the wineries here are scattered around Washington VA (the original Washington, not DC), Sperryville, Amissville, and Huntly. The pace is slower than Loudoun or the Monticello circuit, and the landscape is some of the prettiest in Virginia. If you're already heading to Shenandoah National Park for hiking or coming in via Sperryville on Route 211, these wineries make natural stops along the way.
