New Kent County sits in Tidewater between Richmond and Williamsburg, along the Interstate 64 corridor. The wineries here are geographically close to — but technically outside — the Virginia Peninsula AVA, which was established in 2021 and covers parts of the adjacent James City and Charles City counties. The climate is coastal and warm, with a long growing season moderated by Chesapeake Bay breezes, and the terrain is flatter than the Blue Ridge-facing wineries to the west. A convenient add-on if you're already in the Historic Triangle area.
